Golden Oak Club members enjoyed a special preview of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood StudiosTM.
Golden Oak Club members were thrilled to be among the first to experience the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood StudiosTM. As part of a select audience who previewed the new land days before it opened this summer, Golden Oak residents joined their neighbors on a journey to “a galaxy far, far away.”
“Our Club members were ecstatic to experience Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, taking in all the sights, sounds, and experiences of Planet Batuu,” said Jamie Kneebone, General Manager of the Golden Oak Club.
Upon arrival, Club members were transported to the edge of the Galaxy where they could explore Black Spire Outpost, create their very own lightsaber and climb into the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon.
Club members enjoyed interacting with Cast members and were captivated by immersive elements of the story that were interwoven throughout all aspects of Black Spire Outpost.
The experience allowed Club members to explore new terrain with neighbors, see familiar faces like Rey and Chewbacca, and live out their own Star Wars story. “We were delighted to showcase this historic expansion to our residents and their families,” Kneebone added. “We always try to venture beyond the expected to offer Club members opportunities to create unique memories they’ll cherish for a lifetime.”
An out-of-this-world meet up: Acorn Kids Club.
The night before the Golden Oak Club preview of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the Acorn Kids Club hosted an unforgettable themed evening for our youngest Club members.
“Knowing what the weekend entailed for our residents, we wanted to give a nod by theming our Acorn Kids Club to celebrate all things Star Wars,” Krista Holtzman, Event Coordinator for Club Member Services said. “So we included a slate of galactic activities, encouraging participation and creating excitement for our youngest fans.”
During the evening, the kids enjoyed “rescuing” Star Wars toy figures that were “frozen in carbonite” (a gooey mixture of baking soda and water). And they loved putting their right brains to work decorating their favorite droids.
“Acorn Kids Club is a great way for us to engage with the children in the community,” Holtzman said. “The programming ties in key themed elements while providing parents a night out, knowing their children are enjoying structured play time and activities while making new friends.”
Meeting the creative minds behind the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Comics.
As part of the preview experience and activities, Golden Oak Club members were also invited to meet the creative minds behind the new comic book miniseries, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.
Lifelong fans of sci-fi comic books with a passion for the art of Star Wars, the creative team shared the inspiration for their work and captivating details about their characters, art, and experiences with Disney.
The special evening of storytelling took place at Summerhouse, the private clubhouse at Golden Oak. As a surprise, Club members received a copy of the new Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge comic signed by the author and illustrator.
These experiences made for a weekend filled with excitement for the official debut of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. And they’re just a few of the creative events scheduled throughout the year as a part of Club Life, a bountiful package of experiences, services and extras designed by Disney for members of the Golden Oak Club.
