Magical Memory-Making is Always on the Calendar at Golden Oak
Golden Oak residents are living the magic to the fullest! They're enjoying a signature array of social, recreational and Park experiences at Golden Oak, Walt Disney World® Resort, and points beyond – often sharing these magical moments with fellow residents.
"You can feel a growing sense of community and camaraderie among our residents," said Barry Jacobson, Operations General Manager at Golden Oak. "Summerhouse has become our residents' central gathering point for club events and activities, and for dining at Tyler's and Markham's. In fact, recently two of our families who first met at Golden Oak went together on a Disney Cruise Vacation."
The community calendar offers well-curated, appealing experiences that showcase popular attractions as well as hidden treasures. Some events are included in membership in the Golden Oak Club, while others are available for an additional fee. At an outing to an Atlanta Braves Spring Training Game, for example, residents enjoyed suite seating with lunch at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and round-trip transportation. Later, many gathered post-game at Tyler's Lounge at Summerhouse.
Many of our residents are Muppets fans, so off went a merry band to see the "Muppets Most Wanted" movie this spring. But not before they'd previously gathered at Summerhouse to view the original Muppet movie from 1979. Fun times two!
A Fantasmic! Dessert party, with preferred seating for residents and their guests, was a thrilling experience. You can read about it here in News & Updates.
As the community hub, Summerhouse serves up an ongoing menu of pleasures and pastimes for families, adults and children. Especially popular among our families are monthly meet-the-neighbors dinners, game nights, sing-alongs, movie nights and themed offerings to celebrate the seasons and holidays (such as Fourth of July fare, festivities and fireworks). Culinary activities like pizza-making and cookie decorating offer extra hands-on fun for the younger set.
Grownups are delighting in cooking and mixology demos, as well as the Signature Dinner Series at Markham's, the casually elegant restaurant at Summerhouse. Epicurian adventures thus far have featured tasting events (wine, craft beer and food pairings) and a showcase dinner. (Read more about it in News & Updates). Other delectable events are in the works.
Behind the scenes, of course, there's plenty of Disney imagination and resourcefulness at work."Our team of Cast Members hand-picks unique events and offerings for residents to enjoy as a group with family, friends and neighbors," said Jamie Kneebone, Resident Services Manager at Golden Oak. "It's a real treat for the team to cook up the offerings for our residents."
A look at the community calendar past, present and future quickly shows all the enthusiasm and magic-making that's in play at Golden Oak. From a Backstage Safari at Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park, to an outing to an Orlando Magic game, to a preview tour of New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom® Park, and other activities for all ages – imagine your family joining in our special kind of magic!
