The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ Tour: Golden Oak Residents Live to Tell the Tale!
To tour or not to tour? That was the question facing the Golden Oak residents on July 22, 2014 when they were invited to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™. Would they make it back to the real world or would they suffer the fate of the five passengers who were lost on a stormy night in 1939?
Our intrepid residents decided to take the chance, energized by the treat of breakfasting on the Tower of Terror Balcony before Disney's Hollywood Studios® opened to Guests.
Fortified by a hearty breakfast including cereals, fruits, and the beloved Mickey Waffles, our residents commenced their tour of the attraction and its elevator-like ride.
Cast Member Dillon Dube, bellhop at the attraction, guided the residents on an exclusive tour as they not only got to experience a first-hand look at the extra-special details that make this attraction so unique, but also were lucky (or unlucky) enough to take the first ride of the day.
"We loved having the opportunity to see the behind the scenes of the attraction," said one of the residents.
Dillon revealed to his captive audience that Hollywood Tower Hotel lobby is furnished with various antiques, including rare 17th century Portuguese chairs. He also pointed out several of the fascinating references to the original TV episodes of The Twilight Zone® that appear throughout the attraction. Two of special interest include "Invader," a creepy alien hiding in the library, and "Caesar," a ventriloquist dummy.
After a behind-the-scenes look at the mechanics of the ride vehicle and lift, residents finished their tour with a bone-chilling descent on the elevator-like ride. We are happy to report that all residents that attended emerged in good spirits and returned home safe and sound!
